Final Plans for the Redevelopment of 't Zand and Vrijdagmarkt made Public
After extensive public feedback and consultation with the city of Bruges, the final plans for the redevelopment of 't Zand and Vrijdagmarkt designed by West 8 + Snoeck & Partners have been made public. Construction of the square, one of Bruges largest public space projects, is due to commence later this year.
The Hills on Governors Island to Open in Summer 2016

More than 25,000 saplings to be planted in Máximapark this spring
25,000 saplings of oak, beech, lime and cherry trees need to be planted at the southern end of the Binnenhof in Máximapark. The Vrienden van Máximapark is calling for volunteers to help with planting, and complete the last phase of the Binnenhof, which has been 10 years in the making.

Kleefsewaard Industrial Park (IPKW) wins the Dutch Golden Pyramid Award
Schipper Bosch, developer of the Kleefse Waard Industrial Park (IPKW) in Arnhem, wins the 2015 Gouden Piramide Award. West 8 working in collaboration with IPKW and the Municipality Arnhem was responsible for the urban design and master plan of the area.
West 8 Selected to realize Moulon Park and Carré des Sciences, Paris-Saclay
West 8 working together with Grontmij, Gilles Sensini, Les éclaireurs and Cuesta has been awarded the commission for the design and realization of Park Moulon and Carré des Sciences, a four hectare public space project that is part of the development of the Paris-Saclay urban campus.
Madrid Río wins Harvard’s 2015 Veronica Rudge Green Prize in Urban Design
Harvard awards the 12th Veronica Rudge Green Prize in Urban Design to Madrid Río, designed by Burgos & Garrido, Porras & La Casta, Rubio & Álvarez-Sala, and West 8. According to the Jury "The professional and pedagogical value of Madrid Río is that it makes evident the diversity of economic, technical, political, logistical, and cultural challenges that its designers have surmounted.”
The Depoldering of Noordwaard is Complete
On October 12th, Noordwaard was officially opened. Since 2010, the Rijkswaterstaat has restructured the 4.450 ha polder to return it to nature and allow space for the safe discharge of high water levels. West 8 and IPV Delft have designed 33 bridges and 12 water pumping stations in this polder landscape which offer new opportunities for recreation.
Park Pergola Máximapark wins the RTV Utrecht Public Prize
On Sunday October 25th, West 8 was awarded the RTV Utrecht Public Prize for the design of the Park Pergola in the Máximapark. Public involvement and respect for the Park pergola and Máximapark is a key part of what has made it so successful.
Toronto's Queens Quay wins CUI “Brownie” Award for Best Overall Project - Neighbourhood Scale
The recently opened Queens Quay Revitalization project in Toronto has been awarded a prestigious Brownie Award by The Canadian Urban Institute (CUI). The project picked up the Best Overall Project on the Neighbourhood Scale at this year’s award ceremony.
Mesa City Center receives an Honor Award from AIA Arizona
Mesa city center wins an honor award in the urban design category at the 2015 Arizona AIA design awards. The jury commented that the project "creates a desirable “there” factor, and is a magnet for various scales of engagement and civic activity."
Engels Plein and a revitalized streetscape adds new vibrancy to the City of Leuven
On the 9th of October 2015, the City of Leuven celebrated the official opening of Engels Plein. West 8's winning design for the square transforms what was once an urban leftover into a strikingly green pedestrian and vehicular corridor, complete with custom detailing.
Opening National Waterline Museum Fort bij Vechten
On Thursday the 8th of October, the National Waterline Museum opened its doors to the public. Mariëtte Pennarts, the cultural ambassador for the province of Utrecht said that the new museum and landscape design at the Fort bij Vechten "is an important, cultural highlight for 2015."
Rio Cali Linear Park becomes reality with official ground breaking ceremony
On the 30th of July the Mayor of Cali, Mr. Rodrigo Guerrero Velasco planted a yellow Guayacan tree on the banks of the River Cali. The official tree planting ceremondy kicks off construction on the first phase of the Río Cali Park in Colombia.
