West 8 - Grontmij - CERAU chosen to redevelop the Place Royale and Museum Square in Brussels
The €3,3 million revitalization project involves the complete refurbishment of the Royal Square and its surroundings. Built between 1775 -1782, the square played an important role in the rise of the city of Brussels. West 8-Grontmij-CERAU & partners winning design highlights the impressive façades by developing a grand pedestrian realm that commands respect, imbuing this iconic urban space with a subdued and understated elegance.

Support Rotterdam Centraal by voting for it for the 2014 Frame Public Award, part of the 2014 Dutch Design Awards. Online voting closes on the 24th of October or visit the Rotterdam Central Exhibit at the Dutch Design Week in Strijp T, Eindhoven from the 18th-27th of October and vote in person.
West 8 awarded Third Place at FIZ Future Design Competition
The Jury Meeting for the second stage of FIZ Future Design Competition, organized by the BMW Group in close cooperation with the City of Munich, took place in Munich on 25th of September, 2014. Chaired by architect Kaspar Kraemer, the jury awarded prizes to only three of the six finalists. West 8 urban design & landscape architecture with Atelier Kempe Thill was awarded the third place. Joint first and second place went to HENN (Germany, Munich) and andernst niklaus fausch Architekten (Switzerland, Zurich).

Longwood Gardens Iconic Fountain Garden to undergo Major Revitalization
Three firms; Beyer Blinder Belle + West 8 + Fluidity are responsible for the US$90-million restoration and renovation of the 83-year-old Main Fountain Garden at Longwood Gardens in Philadelphia, US. The “New Heights: The Fountain Revitalization Project,” will add new infrastructure, public spaces and innovative design elements that honor the visionary original design by Longwood Gardens founder Pierre S. du Pont.

Rotterdam Centraal winner of Daylight Award 2014
The Living Daylight Foundation has given out its fourth 'Daylight Award' during the Light Congress 2014 which took place at the World Forum, The Hague on 22nd September. The new Rotterdam Centraal by Team CS, the design result of a cooperation between Benthem Crouwel Architects, MVSA Meyer, van Schooten Architects and West 8, was announced the winner of the Daylight Award 2014 during the ceremony.

The West Kowloon Cultural District Authority (WKCDA) unveiled a concept plan for the future park in the West Kowloon Cultural District on 22nd July, conceived by a global team led by DLN (Hong Kong), with West 8 (Netherlands) and ACLA (Hong Kong). The design team has been working closely with WKCDA since their appointment in February 2014.

Rotterdam Centraal, which is made from 3500 tons of steel, has been selected as a finalist for Belgium Staalbouwwedstrijd (Steel Construction Contest) and the Netherlands Nationale Staalprijs (National Steel Award).
West 8 Engaged to Design the Landscape Concept for Gulangyu Island, Xiamen
West 8 has been commissioned by the Municipal Planning Bureau of Xiamen to design the landscape master plan and design concept for Gulangyu Island. Often called the "Garden on the Sea", the "Architecture Exhibition of Ten Thousand Nations" and the "Island of Piano" this popular tourist destination and heritage landscape, which lies off the coast Xiamen and is poised to undergo a major revitalization.

The Living Daylights Foundation announced the nominees for the 2014 Daylight Award on the 23rd of June. Rotterdam Centraal by Team CS has been selected as one of the four finalists in the category of non-residential buildings. More than eighty completed projects were submitted for this year's awards, which honor the innovative use of daylight in buildings.
